Introducing Haematococcus P. and Astaxanthin
Astaxanthin is “discovered” in the 1990s, now one of most exciting new microalgaes researched. Astaxanthin is one of a group of natural pigments known as carotenoids. In nature, carotenoids are produced principally by plants and their microscopic relatives, the microalgae.
The Astaxanthin found in NMA Products are extracted from Haematococcus pluvialis, a salt water microalgae that is cultivated in the warm waters of Hawaii. It is one of the best source of Astaxanthn and also a natural anti-oxidant carotenoid. Due to its unique structure, it provides a wide range of anti-oxidant benefits. It is also an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory which is able to protect and regenerate human cells in the body. On top of these, it has benefits similar to Vitamin A but unlike Vitamin A, it has no known issues of overdosage.
The red cells you seen above is when Haematococcus Pluvialis (green) under stress due to lack of food, an absence of water, intense sunlight, etc), the algae cells hyperaccumulate the red pigment Astaxanthin. They do this as a survival mechanism to protect the algae from lack of nutrition and/or intense sunlight. What’s amazing is that due to the protective properties of Astaxanthin, these algae can stay dormant for more than forty years without food or water and yet when conditions are appropriate and there is food and water and no extreme weather, the algae will return to their green, motile stage.
